The wind of forfeiture which is currently engulfing those who put their hands corruptly into the till of the Nigerian treasury might, might entrap the former First Lady, Patience Jonathan as federal government has commenced investigation into her N10 billion hotel.

The hotel, known as the Aridolf Resort Wellness and Spa was inaugurated by Patience in April 2015, a month before the end of her husband’s tenure as president.

According to a report by UK based publication, The Financial Times, it said that the resort could favourably hold its own against any other luxury hotel in developed nations, despite the economic difficulties facing Nigeria.

“The Aridolf, which is owned by Patience Jonathan, wife of the former President, is symptomatic of how superficial progress has been in addressing the festering sense of marginalization in the region, which remains desperately impoverished despite benefiting from a tide of petrodollars in recent years,” the report said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) claimed that it traced an additional $5 million dollars to the account Patience.

The anti-graft agency had initially traced $15 million to Jonathan’s account, bringing the total amount to $20 million in an investigation relating to a money laundering case.
