Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo met in Abeokuta yesterday with the factional leader of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff.

The former President described the PDP as “a party whose soul has been taken away and a party in comatose”.

Speaking to journalists after their meeting, Obasanjo also reiterated his renouncement of partisan politics.

On his part, Senator Sheriff eulogized the leadership of the former President. He said his visit was part of the ongoing consultation aimed at finding lasting solutions to the leadership crisis in the PDP.

Obasanjo served as president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under the banner of the PDP.
