American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and fashion designer, Pharrell Williams became a sensation last year with his catchy song ‘Happy’ that caught the fancy of everyone even slightly musically inclined across the world.
It seems that the ripple effect of his success has carried forward this year, as he has been declared the winner of the prestigious CFDA’s 2015 Fashion Icon Award. Pharrell will be honoured with the award on June 1 at the Lincoln Center, Manhattan. The fashionably-inclined will recall that Rihanna won the same award last year, where she opted for a completely sheer and highly risque dress, gloves and headscarf by Adam Selman. As for Pharrell, the music magnate has created a cult following of his ubiquitous hat that has even got its own twitter account under the handle @Pharrellhat that goes with the description, ‘chillin on @Pharrell’s head #pharrellhat’.
He’s also known for his sprawling shoe collection as well as the special Swarovski studded Adidas sneakers he customized and sported at the ‘Saturday Night Live’ performance last year.
