Plateau Boils As 27 Killed In Communal Clashes

At least 27 persons have again been confirmed killed in two communities of Barkin Ladi council area of Plateau State despite the recent restriction of movement at night in seven council areas of the State.

Barkin Ladi and Riyom local governments in Plateau North Senatorial zone have been allegedly said to be killing field by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and their collaborators over the last eight years.

Chairman of the council, Mr Emmanuel Loman, while confirming the incident, disclosed that Fulani herdsmen without provocation, attacked Ninji village and shot seven people in the community to death.

According to him, the night marauders were not satisfied yet as they stormed Ropp, a nearby village and killed 20 persons.

In his words, “As I speak to you now, (Thursday) I am at the mass burial of 27 people massacred by the Fulani and their mercenary” said the council chairman.

Loman pointed out that the killings were perpetrated by Fulanis who live in the communities and aided by their mercenary.

The LG boss added that the attackers wanted to make Barkin Ladi LGA another Sambisa forest at all cost saying they will come out and launch attack at will on innocent people and go back to their hidden palace again.

He therefore called on security operatives to be proactive as the situation is getting out of hand.
