The 25th edition of the SportelMonaco that was just concluded at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco as expected was a blast of success. With close to 3,000 participants, 961 companies from 78 countries and array of journalists from all continents of the world.
Since the inaugural edition 25 years ago, Sportel has remained the most influential business convention for the sports media industry. Annually, Top level executives representing broadcasters, networks, international sports federations, sports marketing agencies, production companies, event organisers, distributors, right owners, satellite providers, technology providers and new media entities all attend SPORTEL Conventions with the aim to do business and to be a part of contributing to the industry’s latest developments. Market leaders of the global sports media, commerce and event sectors meet at SPORTEL to determine the future of sports content, new media and technology.

Another important highlight of this year’s SportelMonaco was the fact that American female soccer legend, Mia Hamm made history by becoming the first woman winner of the prestigious Golden Foot Legends Awards. Mia Hamm became the first woman ever to have her footprint on the Champion’s Promenade in Monte-Carlo. She was joined by 5 other football legends- Hidetoshi Nakata, Antonin Panenka, Hakan Sukur, Roger Milla, and Jean-Marie Pfaff on the famous footprint club that displays their feet images in brass on the seaside walkway at the Grimaldi Forum.
