Nigeria’s female Afrobeats sensation, Tems and Afrobeats icon Wizkid, were both honoured at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 27th, 2023.
The 2023 iHeart Music Awards winners were revealed by iHeart Media and Fox Entertainment, with Tems winning the Hip-Hop Song of the Year prize for her joint work on Future’s “Wait 4 U.”
Tems and Wizkid won the “Afrobeats Artist of the Year” award, beating out illustrious rivals like Burna Boy, CKay, and Fireboy DML.
Lenny Kravitz, popular American singer and instrumentalist, presided over the ceremony, which was broadcast live on FOX on Monday, March 27 from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

The annual iHeartRadio Music Awards are a celebration of the music played all year long on iHeartMedia radio stations around the country and on iHeartRadio, the company’s digital music service. The award event, which was established by iHeartRadio in 2014, honours the most well-known musicians and performers of the previous calendar year. Voting is open to the public in a number of categories, and winners are selected based on cumulative performance data.
