The Chevening Secretariat has opened applications for the 2017/2018 Chevening Scholarships. According to the secretariat, there are more than 1,500 Chevening Scholarships on offer globally this year.
Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s overseas scholarships awarded to individuals with leadership potential and strong academic backgrounds.
The scholarship grants financial support for individuals to study for a master’s degree at any UK university. More than 1000 Nigerians have benefitted from Chevening Scholarships since the first award in 1983.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, in a statement, said the scholarships represent a significant investment from the UK government to develop global leaders.
He said, “I am delighted to announce the opening of Chevening Scholarships Programme for the 2016/17 academic year. Those who are selected for a Chevening Scholarship become recognized as leaders belonging to a global network of influencers. They are empowered with a strong sense of pride and responsibility.”
