‘Vampire’, The Notorious Kidnapper Killed In Shoot Out With Police

Henry Chibueze aka Vampire, the notorious kidnapper who escaped from from prison custody on January 27,2017, when his gang members with guns stormed the Owerri High Court in Imo State and rescued him, killing two persons while many others sustained bullet wounds, has been killed in a gun duel with the police.

Vampire was killed around 2 am earlier today when operatives from the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, who were deployed to Imo State, by the IGP, Ibrahim Idris, tracked down the 30-year old suspect and other members of his gang, to their hideout in Omu-Awa forest in Ikwerre, Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The police also arrested 5 members of the gang who identities are yet to be revealed. The suspects who are currently being detained at the Imo State Police Command, Owerri, were said to have confessed during interrogation to have been behind the rescuing of Vampire from Owerri High Court. They also admitted to have carried out four kidnappings within Imo State and it environs after they rescued Vampire from prisons custody. ‎

Vampire was first arrested in 2015 by men of Directorate of State Security, DSS when he attempted to kidnap some Judges attached to the Imo State Electoral Tribunal.

His escape in January generated fear and condemnation of the security operatives by the populace. Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha announced a reward of N5 million to anyone who can provide any information that will lead to his arrest.

On the 16 of February 2013, Vampire stormed the residence of his girlfriend, Sandra Ijedinma, at Igando area of Lagos State, with an AK47 assault rifle, killing her, her elder sister, Praise Ozor and her two children.

Not yet done, Vampire moved to a nearby street where one of Sandra’s elder sisters resided and killed the woman and three of her children, before fleeing.

Vampire kidnapped over 200 persons, killing most of his victims, including the wife of a royal father in Imo State and an official of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission.
