The presidency has said that workers’ salaries for the month of October which could not be paid at end of the month is now ready and will be paid today.
It added that the development followed the restoration of the computers that crashed as the salaries were about being paid last month.
In a statement made available last night by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the presidency stated that “the delay was inadvertent, caused by unforeseen technical challenge. “President Muhammadu Buhari is seriously concerned about the ordeals of civil servants on account of delayed payment of salaries”,
The presidential spokesman, who explained that “the happiness and welfare of the people is one of the cardinal objectives of any democratically elected government” also emphasized Buhari’s commitment “to these objectives not only on paper but also in practice”.
The presidency further thanked Nigerians for their patience and understanding, adding that “empathy would be the guiding philosophy of the Buhari administration”.
