4G LTE Is Here As MTN, Glo And Etisalat Rolls Out Service

0

The 4G Long Term Evolution, LTE revolution is on and very strong as MTN and Etisalat has joined Globacom in rolling out 4G LTE technology in Nigeria. The MTN’s 4G LTE service had been operation for the past about a month before its official launching.

MTN was actually the first of the big four to launch it’s 4G LTE network after it acquired Visafone last year, but now Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has re-framed the (1800Mhz) spectrum which now makes it possible for other telecom providers to launch their own 4G network even without owning a 4G spectrum.

With the launching of MTN, Glo  and Etisalat’s 4G LTE, Nigeria is now one of the 148 countries globally, 28 in Africa and seventh in West Africa where the 4G LTE service has been rolled out. The coming of the 4G LTE will accelerate Nigeria’s quest to achieve the targeted 30 per cent national broadband penetration by 2018.

Glo currently offers the widest 4g network coverage as it’s available in 9 cities while MTN is available in 3 cities and Etisalat 4G network coverage is only available in some parts of Lagos. With the launching of the 4G LTE, subscribers can now enjoy optimized wireless 4G broadband and high-speed browsing experience, which is the fastest and most futuristic mobile Internet access available in the country today.

Airtel is the only one yet to join the 4G LTE train.
