0

Less than 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan campaigned in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, the city is reportedly under attack by Boko Haram insurgents, according to posts on twitter residents.

One report said the attack is taking place in Jimtilo area of the city and said Nigerian troops are massing armored tanks to the area to engage the Boko Haram fighters.

The fighting has also ignited some stampede by the people living in the affected area. “Civilian volunteers jumping into any vehicle that comes passing by and shouting “Sai dai Jonathan ya kashe mu””, tweets AS Aruwa.

Maiduguri had experienced some calm in the last two weeks.
