Bruce Lee’s Family To Produce The Star’s Biopic

An untitled Bruce Lee biopic is now closely in the works as the martial arts star daughter is closely supervising the development of the project.

Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, announced the planned biopic, saying that Bruce Lee Entertainment will be the one to produce, together with Lawrence Grey and Janet Yang. “There have been projects out there involving my father, but they’ve lacked a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry,” Lee stated.

Lee also said that those projects have not properly depicted “the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling.” Thus, Bruce Lee Entertainment decided to come up with the right material to provide audience with the one that will really make audience “understand the depth and uniqueness of my father.” Lee also shared that aside from being a celebrated martial arts expert, Bruce Lee was also a “prolific writer and a creator of his own unique art and philosophy,” two things that she wants people to know and not just “his kick-ass physicality, but the depth of his character and beliefs.”

Bruce Lee, who died in 1973 at the very young age of 32, became a popular movie artist for his performances featuring his martial arts expertise in Fist of FuryWay of the Dragon, and Enter the Dragon. Grey and Yang are also very happy to be collaborating in the helming of the Bruce Lee biopic. “It is a tremendous privilege to be working with Shannon on these exciting ventures about her father,” Yang said.

Other than the Bruce Lee biopic, Bruce Lee Entertainment is also working on martial arts-themed projects, including a TV series.
