As promised in his Democracy Day speech to the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday signed the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill into law.

President Buhari signed the bill into law at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

With the law, the age qualification for the president is now 30 from 40, governor from 35 to 30, senator from 35 to 30, membership of the House of Representatives from 30 to 25 and that of State House of Assembly from 30 to 25.

The National Assembly had amended and passed the bill last year, altering sections 65, 106, 131, 177 of the Constitution to thereby reducing the constitutional age requisition for president from 40 to 30; that of the governor from 35 to 30; senator from 35 to 30; House of Representatives membership from 30 to 25 and State House of Assembly membership from 30 to 25
