Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court Abuja on Wednesday convicted two Nigerians, Abdullahi Mustapha Berende and Saheed Adewumi, who are suspected members of an Iranian terrorist organization.

Justice Mohammed said the prosecution counsel, Mrs. Chioma Onuegbu was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt the allegations against the suspects by the Federal Government.

Delivering judgment late evening on Wednesday, the court found the 1st defendant guilty of all the six-count charge. The 2nd defendant was convicted on counts five and six of the charge.

Consequently, the court sentenced the 1st and 2nd defendants to five years imprisonment on each count of the charge they were found guilty.

Justice Mohammed said the jail term would run concurrently.

The court noted that the defendants had already spent five years in detention since 2012 when they were arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS).
