A 17 years old pupil armed with two revolvers, a hunting rifle and grenades opened fire at school in Grasse, near Cannes. Several people were injured including the school principal.
The suspect was subsequently arrested by the French National Police. The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, was of “European” origin and also a student of the school, the spokesman said. No immediate link to terrorism was available.
Also Thursday, a letter bomb exploded in the Paris offices of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Paris, injuring the particular employee who opened it in the hand and face, French police said.
Christine Lagarde, the IMF’s director, condemned what she called a “cowardly act of violence against” her staff.
France has been under a “state of emergency” following the spate of terrorist attacks orchestrated by Islamic State on the country.
