0

The window for political parties to submit nomination forms for their presidential and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ends today.

Hence, parties can no longer nominate candidates for those categories for election. According to the timetable and guidelines of INEC, the last day for submission of nomination forms for Presidential and National Assembly elections by parties is slated for January 6, 2015.

However, for Governorship and State House of Assembly, it is scheduled for January 20, 2015.

The commission said its time schedule for the nominations was in accordance with sections 32,37,38,39 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which also directed INEC to appoint time for submission.

Moreover, the timetable stated that publication of official Register of voters for the election is expected on January 13, 2015.
