Katy Perry Tops Forbes’ Highest-Paid Woman In Music List

0

Katy Perry made more money just as Taylor Swift got all the accolades. Formerly pals, now turned ‘frenemies’, Perry and Swift have had their disagreements this year. No let up in the bad blood between the two women.

Swift, 25, ended up destitute, of course. She earned $80 million between June 2014 and June 2015, according to Forbes‘ calculations, released Wednesday. Thanks to a ginormous world tour, a steady stream of hit singles and high-profile endorsements, Perry snatched $135 million this year – grossing more than $2 million per city over the course of 126 shows.

Perry has been making more waves lately as one of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s most public celebrity supporters. Her empowerment anthem, Roar, is one of Clinton’s campaign songs. Last month, Perry performed for her at a patriotically-themed youth-vote rally in Iowa. She even took over Clinton’s Instagram account to declare her fandom and urge young people to vote.

Forbes said Swift was on track to top the list next year as she was earning some $4 million in each city she performs, about twice the $2 million that Perry grossed on each stop.

Fleetwood Mac, an unusual entry on this list since the band contains three men, comes in at third with $59.5 million, thanks largely to On With The Show tour that included 86 concerts. Lady Gaga, currently starring in American Horror Story, is fourth with $59 million; Beyonce rounds out the top five at $54.5 million.

Britney Spears with $31m is at number 6, Jennifer Lopez is on 7 with $28.5m, Country music star Miranda Lambert is at number 8 with $28.5m, songstress, Mariah Carey is 9th with $27m and Rihanna at 10 with $26m.
