Keshi Given The Boot

0

Football is not the king of sports for nothing. Football breeds passion and pain, it doesn’t have room for losers and experimentation. Football fans are obsessed with victories. Victories has many fathers, but losers are orphan. Stephen Keshi, the gaffer of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles,  was given the boot earlier today after a dismal performance in the African cup of Nations qualifiers where he garnered four point out of possible twelve losing to Congo and Sudan, drawing with our perennial wife, South Africa.

Keshi, much soothed after he led the Super Eagles to victory at the last Afcon and taking the team to the knock stage of the world cup in Brazil. He was once touted to be heading to South Africa to coach the Bafana Bafana among other juicy appointments after the world cup. None of the speculations became a reality as he stayed with the Super Eagles despite the brouhaha in the Nigeria Football Federation which makes the renewal of his contract impossible.

Nigeria are currently third in qualification Group A and have just two matches to save their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations hopes, where they will face Congo and South Africa, the two outfits currently above them in the standings. Keshi has been replaced by Amode Shuaibu, a former coach of the Super Eagles who will lead a consortium of coaches for the remaining two matching. Information available to ARM indicates the football authorities in Nigeria are planning to hire a foreign coach for the National team.

Keshi, shot himself in the football by churning out bad results with lackadaisical playing pattern
