About The Event

The flagship event will take place from May 23rd – 27th 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. The Africa Soft Power Summit is the premier gathering for women in leadership, the creative and digital industries in Africa, and it draws speakers and attendees from all over the world. With breakout sessions, social events, roundtable discussions, and workshops, the setting offers a novel twist on the conventional conference style and lots of opportunity for additional networking along the way.

Thematic Areas

The session will focus on these central intersecting themes:

  • Women’s leadership: Hitting the reset button on gender and reframing African women’s leadership as a key strength in tackling global challenges
  • Creative power & modern economics: From the continent to the diaspora – why it’s imperative to leverage African creativity today to fuel the global creative, digital, and knowledge economies of tomorrow
  • Celebrating modern African and diaspora voices within the global discourse, and retelling the African story on the world stage
  • These three themes will in-turn provide the foundations for three days of convenings, each offering a unique take on African soft power, and how it can be better leveraged to propel the continent forward.

Raw Women’s Leadership Conference | May 24th

Our RAW Women’s Leadership Conference, which is sponsored by African Women on Board and features both prominent female and male voices, will start by pressing the rewind button on conventional gender discourse. What would we do differently if DEI had been discovered TODAY? How may we approach, explain, or advance greater equality in the workplace and society at large? What would genuine global diversity, equality, and inclusion look like if we started from scratch in 2023?

A true feast of African artistic and cultural production taking place in real-time! The presentations and topics from the previous two days will come to life in front of our eyes during the ASP Gala as it showcases the newest in African art, fashion, film, entertainment, media, and technology. Even among the diaspora community, contemporary African culture is still frequently misrepresented on the global stage. This festival will show the entire world—and the entire continent—what authentic African innovation looks like today.

Creative & Innovative Industries Conference (Cii) | May 25th

A gathering of influential companies and individuals from around the world that focuses on the mutually beneficial relationship between creative endeavour and commercial viability as well as the role that the private sector can play in influencing the development of the digital, creative, and knowledge economies.
