MTN Launches CarFi Stick To Provide Internet Service In Motor Vehicles

African’s biggest telecommunication, MTN has launched CarFi stick which will enable subscribers to access the internet in their cars while in traffic.

MTN CarFi Sticks launched at the 2015 Abuja Motor Fair sponsored by MTN, is the first of its kind to be introduced in Nigeria.  MTN’s sponsorship of the motor fair is part of the company’s activities to support the rapid development in the automotive and road transport sectors in Nigeria. The event which is in its 17th edition was organised by BKG Exhibitions Ltd.

Describing the MTN CarFi Stick, Mr. Richard Iweanoge, GM Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria said the device will simply make life more comfortable for the Nigeria road traveller using internet. “The MTN CarFi Stick is a wireless gadget designed to provide internet access for motor vehicles. It is a fast, reliable and easy to operate high-speed network access terminal that can be inserted into a car cigarette lighter socket, and then allows up to ten (10) portable devices to connect to a Wi-fi network while in a moving vehicle. With the device, users can surf the internet easily. MTN Nigeria is the first telecom operator to launch the device, and we will leverage it to drive innovation in the data space. MTN CarFi Stick is a unique device developed in line with our vision of leading the delivery of a bold, new digital world” Iweanoge said.

Speaking on the rationale for the sponsorship, Iweanoge said, “MTN is proud of this partnership. We believe the Abuja Motor fair is not only the most consistentbut also the fastest growing auto show in Africa and we are glad to be driving this success and taking part in the continuous development of this ever growing industry.”
