This information was disclosed in a study by the Indian cybersecurity research company Indusface, according to TechCrunch. A extremely severe piece of malware that posed a serious threat to business data and devices, the Gamarue botnet, was effectively stopped by the West African nation, earning it the top rank.

The metrics used to generate the cybersecurity rankings included DDOS assaults, phishing, and malware-hosting websites. With an overall index of 74.69 out of 100, Nigeria came in second. After racking up 78.09 points, Senegal was determined to be the most secure nation on the continent.

According to the study, Nigeria has the lowest rate of hacked systems per 100,000 internet users among all the African countries considered. This metric recognises Nigeria’s accomplishments in combating malware like the Gamarue botnet, which primarily steals data but also engages in other activities including click fraud.

According to the survey, the top three countries for cyber security are Honduras, South Korea, and Japan.
