To produce adaptations of the “Iyanu” series, Lion Forge Entertainment has announced a ground-breaking new relationship with renowned Nigerian creator and producer Roye Okupe.

The best-selling graphic novels by Okupe, which were first released by Dark Horse Comics, are being transformed into enthralling TV, film, and game productions by Lion Forge Entertainment. It also provides the groundwork for an exciting partnership on Lion Forge’s unique projects, with the potential for Okupe to contribute his writing and directing skills.

The collaboration also expands Lion Forge’s “Iyanu” rights to include live-action adaptations, creating a wealth of possibilities for bringing this incredible heroine to the big screen. Production of the highly anticipated animated series for Cartoon Network and Max is currently in full swing. A tantalising look into the captivating universe of “Iyanu,” where an epic superhero narrative is beautifully woven into the vivid tapestry of Nigerian culture, music, and mythology, is promised at the highly anticipated series’ upcoming global premiere at MIPCOM. It’s anticipated that the MIPCOM launch would be nothing short of stunning. Additionally, Roye Okupe will provide an exclusive first look at “Iyanu” during Dark Horse’s “World of Iyanu” panel at New York Comic Con on Sunday.

The founder and CEO of Lion Forge Entertainment, David Steward II, expressed his love for Roye Okupe and called him an extraordinary creator, writer, and director who has an uncompromising commitment to telling tales that connect with viewers from all walks of life. Steward emphasised how Okupe’s artistic vision and Lion Forge’s objective to provide diverse, culturally rich storytelling that guarantee young viewers can see themselves represented on television are in sync with one another. He emphasised the great honour that Lion Forge felt in setting out on this joint adventure with Roye to explore the enormous possibilities of the YouNeek YouNiverse.

Okupe returned the fervour by expressing his happiness at calling Lion Forge Entertainment his artistic home. He praised the studio for their outstanding assistance in realising his idea for “Iyanu” and the YouNeek YouNiverse. He looks forward to working closely with Lion Forge to bring these stories to life and to further their commitment to accurately representing Nigerian and African cultures. The YouNeek YouNiverse and Lion Forge’s thrilling originals portfolio are included in this cooperation, which also covers fresh, innovative projects.

As Lion Forge raises the bar for its artistic endeavours, this first-look agreement with Okupe is the most recent in a string of tactical measures. The studio has expanded its senior executive team over the last six months, opened a division for international distribution, forged a multi-title development deal with Penguin Young Readers for a variety of children’s film and television projects, and formed a strategic global content partnership with ad giant Dentsu.
