Escaped Jos Wildlife Park Lion Shot Dead

The lion that escaped from the Jos Wildlife Park in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Wednesday morning has been shot dead.

Information had it that security operatives shot the lion dead while still within the vicinity of the park.
The story of the escaped lion, it was gathered, caused panic among residents of Jos, especially those living close to the park.

Attempts to get the lion back into the cage after it was sighted was said to have failed as it ran in a different direction.
The lion was said to have been in the park since 1972. It escaped from its cage on Wednesday at about 8am, while it was being fed.

The escape was confirmed by the Acting General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, John Doy.
